A very prolific inventor and two experienced intellectual property attorneys will conduct you through the essential steps in managing the inventive process, protecting the results, and collaborating with others to bring them to commercial fruition.

Starting with techniques for identifying, generating and crystallizing valuable inventions, moving to documenting the work, deciding on patenting vs. trade secret protection and comparing the cost of protection to its possible value, working with your patent attorney to produce the most appropriate patent applications, moving the patent application through US and foreign patent offices, going through the due diligence process and developing a partnering arrangement.

You will be taken through the early, middle and later stages of the process, hear of pitfalls along the way, how to handle patenting issues while still getting the R & D done, techniques for assessing and enhancing the value of the invention, and dos and don’ts for collaborating with other individuals or organizations.

The level of the presentation will assume a basic familiarity with patents and trade secrets.  Ample time will be provided for questions and discussion.
